Welcome to Southern Nevada Gem & Mineral Society, a nonprofit educational community service organization, sharing our love of the lapidary arts, rocks, and minerals.

Based in Las Vegas Nevada, serving the Southern Nevada area, and governed by a Board of Directors our club started in 1930 as the Prospector's Club and is one of the oldest recorded clubs of its kind in the United States.

The purpose of the club is to promote interest and education in the various earth sciences, mineralogy, gemology, and to foster the exchange of knowledge in the lapidary arts. We are a non-profit, community service organization.

We are members of American Federation of Mineralogical Societies and Rocky Mountain Federation of Mineralogical Societies.
Looking forward to our yearly shows. Make Plans to join us.

Our meetings are held at the The Fraternal Order of Eagle's Lodge, 1601 E. Washington, Las Vegas, NV 89101 on the first Monday of each month (except December) at 6 PM. If the first Monday is a holiday the meeting is on the second Monday. This occasionally changes, so check the Meetings page for more information. Visitors are welcomed at all our meetings.

The next General Meeting is Monday, Oct. 7th at the Eagle's Lodge at 6 PM - Visitors Welcome! The speaker will be James Sloan, SNGMS Member, on Opal Formation and Its Relationship to Chalcedony

We maintain a lapidary shop in Las Vegas at 3111 S. Valley View unit #E125 where we hold most of our classes and some events such as rock swaps.
